Xin Huang, Ph.D. (PI)
Dr. Xin Huang graduated from the Mixed Class at Chu Kochen Honors College (with a B.E. degree in Computer Science) in 2006 and from the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2008 at Zhejiang University. From 2008 to 2013, he pursued his PhD at the Department of Pathology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in the United States, where he focused on studying the impact of microRNAs on the development of B-cell lymphoma. He then conducted postdoctoral research under the guidance of Dr. Jianlong Wang at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and joined the Columbia Center for Human Development (CCHD) at Columbia University in 2019 to continue research on stem cells and early development. His work focuses on transcriptional regulation in pluripotent stem cells and early embryonic development. He was the first to discover the crucial role of the pluripotency transcription factor ZFP281 in the dynamic balance of DNA methylation and demethylation. Additionally, he identified that the RNA-binding protein PSPC1 regulates PRC2 function and stem cell differentiation by interacting with the DNA demethylation protein TET1. During his PhD and postdoctoral training, his first-author papers were published in journals such as Journal of Clinical Oncology, Blood, Developmental Cell, Cell Stem Cell, Nature Communications, Cell Reports, and Protein & Cell. In 2023, he was promoted to Assistant Professor (PI) at Department of Medicine, Columbia University, and he has received funding support from NIH, including the NIH Exploratory/Developmental Research Grant Award (R21, 2022-2025) and the NIH/NIGMS Maximizing Investigator's Research Award (MIRA, R35, 2024-2029).

Lieying Xiao, Ph.D. (Postdoc)
Dr. Lieying Xiao graduated from Sichuan Agriculture University in 2019 and graduated from Zhejiang University in 2024. During her Ph.D. training (2019~2024) supervised by Dr. Kun Zhang in Zhejiang University, she studied epigenetic and chromatin reprogramming in early embryonic development and cell fate determination. She is also an expert in the high-throughput epigenomics and single cell transcriptome for low-input embryos.

Dr. Xiao will join Dr. Huang's lab in April 2025. She will study the epigenetic regulation of R-loops in pluripoency and early development.

We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral candidate with enthusiasm for biomedical research, creativity, and a collaborate spirit. Applicants with research experience in stem cells, developmental biology, and cancer biology are welcome to apply.
